Fun, educational gifts for 7-11 year olds

Posted by

There are so many toys out there on the market that provide little educational value. They certainly have their place as they bring other benefits such as social skills or just simply happiness, but these are my top 5 educational gifts that I’ve either bought for the boys or want to.

Goki World Map Puzzle

This is one of the best things i’ve bought my seven year old in the last year. He regularly takes out this reversible puzzle and completes both sides, and loves to take it to relative’s houses to show them how well he can do his ‘map jigsaw’. Take a look at the Seven’s Dream website for more educational inspiration.

2 in 1 Globe Earth and Constellations

This is something I saw lots of bloggers reviewing and it gave me envy! We have also tried out some Brainstorm products and they were brilliant too. To be honest, you can’t really go wrong with anything from Brainstorm! Almost everything I’ve seen by them has impressed me and they do some fantastically fun toys. The best part is that the kids are learning as they play… just don’t tell them!

Meccano Max

From the internationally renowned maker of robotics building sets arises a new model of impressive proportions. Unlike anything else Meccano has created, M.A.X. combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) with fully customisable programming. The result is a one-of-a-kind robot of your own creation! Budding engineers, innovators and creators can expand their knowledge of programming as they personalize this robot to their specifications.

Control it using voice commands, buttons on the MeccaBrain, or the free app! You’ll know exactly what it’s thinking based on its expressive facial graphics. As a S.T.E.M robotics platform, M.A.X is designed to engage kids in intellectually stimulating play, drawing on their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and maths.

We haven’t tried this out ourselves but it looks awesome on The Brick Castle‘s review.

You can buy a M.A.X. of your own via this link.

Brainbox Games Board Game

Find out who the BrainBox is in your family. It may not be who you think it is! The BrainBox Board game is compatible with all other BrainBox Games. We have reviewed some before on the blog and always find them to be great fun.  Grab your ultimate brain challenge game here.

ROBOT WARS Coding Board Game

A fun filled coding game that can be enjoyed by kids, adults and families alike. This game introduces how a computer (or robot) executes the code through sequential logic. Java code is blended into English commands so that anyone who can read English can play this game. Something that sounds so complex to me is simplified and made understandable for kids as young as seven. Brilliant!
