Included in my bumper Christmas Gift Guide this year is the Regatta Brodiaea coat. I’ve had this coat for a couple of weeks now and put it to the test on the school run, while out walking and also while stood on the sidelines at the boys’ football and rugby matches.
A lovely walk in the (very) fresh air
I’ve had plenty of Regatta coats before and they’ve always been great quality, practical, long lasting outerwear. It’s a brand I’ve known and trusted for years and one that I would recommend to friends, but I’ve always considered it to be more practical than fashionable. The newest range of women’s coats though is lovely, and ticks all the boxes!
The first thing I noticed when I put on this coat was how lovely and soft the hood was inside. It fit quite close to my head, stopping cold winds from sneaking in, and is really comfortable.
The length of the coat is perfect for me too. I’m 5′ 2″ and it comes down to the top of my legs – I really do prefer a coat to be that bit longer for this very reason so that was a definite plus for me.
The style is far more fashionable than the 3-in-1 designs I’ve always had before, but no less practical. Made with a hydrafort outer, the jacket is waterproof and with taped seams and Sherpa fleece lining it’s really warm too. It has press stud pockets which are easy to manage even while wearing gloves, and an adjustable hem and hood. There is also an inside zip pocket for safe keeping.
The Regatta Brodiaea is smart enough to wear on a casual night out and practical enough for hilly walks too. It’s very much a ‘ticks all the boxes’ kind of jacket.
For sizing, I would probably say it’s slightly on the small side, and if you’re intending to wear thick layers underneath it I would probably suggest buying one size up. I found though that with a top and thin jumper on underneath, I was warm enough when stood pitch side at my son’s football match for 90 minutes on a cold December morning, so you really don’t need lots of thick layers for general use.
The Regatta Brodiaea jacket is available from their website. It’s available in several different colours and is currently on sale too!
*disclosure: I received this jacket for the purpose of carrying out an honest and full review.
