Food Review: The Laundrette, Chorlton

Posted by

Recently my sister and I found ourselves at a loose end in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. We had booked a photoshoot for my youngest son but on arrival had discovered they had double booked our appointment. So with a couple of hours to kill on a sunny day, we took a little stroll around Chorlton Water Park. Despite the water park walk not being overly strenuous, once finished we deemed ourselves worthy of some comforting carbs and headed round the corner to The Laundrette.

The Menu

The Laundrette menu is split into sections like any other menu, but with a laundry-based twist. If you’re watching your calorie intake, the Extra Care section is for you. Just fancy a snack? Small Load is what you need!

The restaurant was very quiet, presumably because it was only just noon, and the service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the outdoor seating was very comfortable.

My sister and I decided to order a few dishes to share. We opted for the pesto chicken, tomato, fresh garlic and parmesan pizza with a side of parmesan topped sweet potato fries, plus hummus and flatbread.

The Food

The drinks were served immediately and the food arrived within about 20 minutes. The food was well presented and there was plenty for the two of us. I certainly couldn’t have eaten it all on my own despite it being a starter, a main and a side dish for one.

The food was really delicious. The pizza wasn’t greasy in the slightest and the sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked. The three dishes complimented one another beautifully.

The drinks menu was extensive and I expect The Laundrette is a great place for date night or a night out with friends.

The food plus two large diet cokes amounted to £22.50, which I thought was very reasonable.

We would definitely go back to The Laundrette if we are back in the area, as Chorlton being a good 45 minute drive from where we live. According to the website though, The Laundrette is soon to open branches in Manchester and Newcastle, so perhaps the Manchester one will be closer.

All in all, an enjoyable lunch, and I would happily recommend The Laundrette to friends.
